The short version. We collect your account details, your fitness activity, and your challenge and payment history. We do not sell your data — not to anyone, for any purpose. Your fitness data is used to verify workouts, and nothing else. We never see your card number. You can delete your account and your data from inside the app.

1. What we collect

You give us: name, email, username, confirmation that you are 18+, your payment method (handled by Stripe — Ante never receives or stores card numbers), challenge details including who you nominate as an accountability partner, and anything you write in a support message or dispute.

From your device, with your permission: health and fitness data from Apple Health (workouts, distance, duration, steps, active energy, and heart rate during workouts), data from Strava or Garmin if you connect them, and a device token for push notifications.

Automatically: challenge outcomes, streaks and statistics, basic app usage, and technical data such as device model, OS version, and crash reports.

We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, or your browsing activity outside Ante.

2. Health data

We use it for exactly one thing: verifying that a workout happened. We check the activity type, duration, distance, and timestamp against the goal you set.

If you live in Washington, Nevada, or Connecticut, you have specific rights over consumer health data, including the right to withdraw consent and to have it deleted. Email [email protected] and we will action it.

3. AI coaching

If you use the AI coach, we send a summary of your challenge and workout statistics to Anthropic to generate coaching text. We send aggregate figures — completion rates, streaks, workout counts, timing patterns — not raw health records. We ask for separate consent before this happens, and you can use Ante fully without the AI coach.

We do not send your name, email, or any identifier that would tell Anthropic who you are. Anthropic processes this under its commercial API terms as our service provider. Your data is not used to train Anthropic's models, and Anthropic retains it only for the limited period its terms allow for abuse monitoring.

4. Who we share with

Only services that make Ante work:

We may also disclose data if legally required, to investigate fraud or violations of our Terms, or in connection with a merger or acquisition — in which case you will be notified. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

5. What other users can see

Other Ante users can see your name, username, level, XP, streak, completed challenge count, and total kept — that's what appears on leaderboards and in friend search. They cannot see your email, payment details, health data, individual workouts, or challenge details.

If you nominate someone as an accountability partner, they will see that you missed a goal — that's the point of the feature — but not your stake amount.

If you commit without a partner, nobody is told anything about that challenge.

6. How long we keep things

DataKept for
Account and profileWhile your account is active
Health and workout data24 months, then permanently deleted
Challenge outcomes (date, amount, result)7 years
Payment records7 years
Support messages and disputes4 years
Push tokensUntil you disable notifications or delete your account

Health data is deleted at 24 months even if your account stays open. That is the shortest period that still supports year-over-year progress comparison, which is the only feature needing history. We would rather lose a statistic than hold your health data longer than we can justify.

Challenge outcomes are kept separately from workout detail. After 24 months a challenge record retains only what a financial record needs — the date, the amount, and whether it was completed. The underlying workouts, distances, and heart rate data are gone.

Payment and financial retention is set by tax law, not by choice. Dispute records are kept 4 years because that is how long a claim under our Terms can be brought in California — if you dispute an outcome years later, we want the evidence to still exist for both of us.

7. Deleting your account

Settings → Delete Account. This removes your profile, health data, workouts, and challenge history. Two exceptions, both required by law rather than choice: payment records are retained for 7 years for tax and financial reporting, and active challenges with money staked must complete or be resolved first. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your data, or to withdraw consent for health data or AI coaching.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what is collected and disclosed, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information, so there is no opt-out of sale to exercise.

Email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

9. Security

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10. Children

Ante is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it. Contact us if you believe a minor has an account.

11. Changes

We will notify you in the app of material changes and update the date above. Changes affecting how health data is used will require fresh consent, not just a notice.
